Meet The Team

Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in farm healthcare. Our veterinary team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification.

Tom Gliddon BVSc CertEP MRCVS.

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 1992 and joined White Lodge in 1996, after stints in Shropshire, North Wales and North Devon. I then became a partner here in 1999 and have since passed the RCVS Certificate in Equine Practice . I have been on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons panel of examiners for the postgraduate certificate in Equine Practice. I have been on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons panel of examiners for the postgraduate certificate in Equine Practice and have recently been appointed to the prestigious role of RVS for the farriers registration council.

My major interests are general equine practice, particularly stud work and lameness investigation, as well as farm animal practice.  Outside of work, my interests include horse riding, hunting, cricket, rugby and enjoying family life with my wife Kate and our three children.. The family doesn't stop there though, we also have 6 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 25 ewes, 6 chickens, and 2 guinea pigs!

Paul Gannon BVetMed MRCVS.

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2003, and after 18 months working in West Wales I returned home to Somerset and have been at White Lodge ever since! I became a partner in 2014, alongside Philip, Tom and Simon. I embrace all aspects of traditional general practice, but would have to say my main interests lay within small animal surgery and preventative medicine, as well as obstetrics on the farm side. I have become particularly proficient at TB testing, and widely studied all aspects on intra-handling system behaviour of the bovine!

Old machinery has become a real interest to me in recent years, the long spoken of tractor restoration has taken periodic breaks in favour of an emergency lawnmower rescue! More conventionally, I am a keen cyclist on and off the road, so watch out for me on the strava leader board!

Carly Martin Pope BVM&S MRCVS

I graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh in 2010. After five fabulous years in Scotland I moved home to Somerset and worked for a year in a busy mixed practice.  I then ventured away to Dorset for three years to gain more experience of equine and farm work.

In my student days I spent a great deal of time 'seeing practice' at White Lodge, and I am very happy to be back at such an exciting time for the practice with the new equine clinic opening. I love the variety of mixed practice, although my favourite days are spent out and about in the countryside visiting yards and farms.

Outside of work I spend much of my time farming or sat on a horse. This year I am planning to have some fun competing in some British Eventing BE100 classes on my little Irish horse 'Jake', whilst having my ex-eventer Wings in foal. Over the Summer I am regularly involved with course building and judging at local horse shows.  For relaxation I enjoy walking my Border Terrier 'Waggers' on the Quantocks, cooking and playing village rounders.

Hannah Martin BVM BVS MRCVS

Hannah May Martin BVM BVS MRCVS started with us in March. Hannah qualified from Nottingham University in 2019, and has been in mixed practice (with a focus on farm animals) in Oxfordshire since qualifying. Hannah will be working mainly within our Farm and Equine practice, and we’re really excited to have welcomed her to the team. Hannah has moved down with her horse, and is a keen eventer in her spare time, as well as enjoying netball and rugby.

Elsa Bromhall. Vet

Elsa Bromhall. BVSc MRCVS

I qualified from Liverpool University in 2016, and worked in Herefordshire for two years before moving down to Minehead. Having spent a lot of time at White Lodge as a student I was really excited to be given the opportunity to join the practice! I split my time between the large and small animal clinics, and really enjoy the variety of mixed practice and the challenges it presents.

Out of work I keep myself busy with three dogs (two small lurchers and a terrier), two horses (one rideable, one very small youngster), a cat and a royal python. I am a keen triathlete, and compete up to Ironman distance. Luckily the lurchers particularly enjoy long distance runs across Exmoor, although neither are quite so keen on the sea swimming!

Approved Tuberculin Tester

Michael McGuinness ATT - Approved TB tester

Michael has recently joined the team and after a period of training and passing his final assessment with flying colours he is now fully qualified to TB test.

Outside of work Michael has a large involvement on the family farm and enjoys all kinds of sports, especially golf, and at weekends he can often be found driving  balls down the fairway.
