Routine vaccination provides protection against four life threatening diseases which may be contracted from the environment or unprotected dogs. We use Nobivac to protect against:
+ Leptospirosis 2 and 4
Parainfluenza and Leptospirosis are the most common infectious diseases in dogs, the vaccination immunity only lasts one year so this must be topped up with an annual booster (pi/l4).
Distemper, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis immunity lasts longer, so is easily managed with a 3 yearly booster (dhp)
Once puppies have had their initial vaccination course between 8 and 12 weeks, it is really important for them to have an annual booster vaccination. This is vital to maintain their immunity especially as they age and their immunity weakens, as dogs can still succumb to these fatal diseases. At White Lodge Vets a full health check is undertaken at every vaccination appointment. This is always a good opportunity for us to examine your pet for any problems that you may or may not be aware of. Prevention is better than cure. Vaccination is a safe, reliable and cost effective way of giving your pet the best chance of living a long and healthy life.
Key points: All puppies should be vaccinated and need yearly boosters throughout their life. These diseases are still around, and can be fatal. No reputable boarding establishment will take your dog or if their vaccinations have lapsed. Adult and elderly dogs still need boosters. Extra vaccinations are needed for kennel stays and travelling
