 Lucy Boulter RVN, Head Nurse

I have worked at White Lodge since 2009, and have since become a registered veterinary nurse, I recently gained my Ncert ECC, which is a certificate in emergency and critical care. I aim to give an extremely high standard of nursing care to all my patients, and treat each animal as if it was my own.

Alongside this, I am a qualified clinical coach, so can use my experience and knowledge to help train the student nurses here at White Lodge.

At home, I have my big and bouncy Rhodesian Ridgeback called Zarco who is a genuine big, friendly giant.

Laura Dobson RVN, Head Equine Nurse

I first joined White Lodge in 2010, and have since become a qualified Vet Nurse. I'd love to qualify in equine nursing in the future, as I have a particular interest in that field, and spend most of my time seeing to our equine and farm patients at the new Ellicombe Clinic.

Outside of work, I'm always surrounded by animals! Whether I'm out exploring on my horse, stag hunting, or animal sitting - I also run a pet care service, and usually have an extra dog or two to stay! I'm also part of the young farmers, I enjoy the young farmer and local hunt events, such as the valentines/christmas balls, and help to organise some of them.

I have four horses, Lola my Suffolk Punch x TB, and Tory my TB x Cob who I regularly hunt. Completing the family there is Sky and Maisie, my border collie and jack russell, who enjoy helping me at work, especially when they get to make new friends.

Emily Charlotte Elgar RVN, Veterinary Nurse (Full time)

I joined White Lodge in 2014 to assist with social media, marketing and general office duties before qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in 2019. I love the emergency care, looking after inpatients and have an interest in rehabilitation. I regularly take part in volunteer work, and recently spent a month in The Gambia.

I enjoy riding out on my horses Bodie and Millie, making the most of the beaches and countryside in the local area. As a junior, I represented the South East at national level dressage, and rode for both international dressage and event riders.

Since moving to Exmoor from Kent, I love exploring the coast by kayaking and paddleboarding with my border collie - Lottie, and scrambling rocks with my Romanian rescue dog - Lola.

Kathy Batts RVN, Veterinary Nurse (Part Time)

I have worked part time at this West Somerset Vets since 2000, as a qualified veterinary nurse. I recently achieved a distinction in The COAPE Award in Canine and Feline Behaviour Management in Veterinary Nursing (RQF Level 3). I also have a city and guilds certificate in grooming and spend quite a bit of my time pampering pooches, both at work and home. I have a collection of animals; dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, goldfish and quail, as well as three children, which keep me very busy!

Becky Phippen RVN, Veterinary Nurse (Part Time)

I have recently returned to White Lodge after a break to spend time with my young family. Prior to this, I worked here as a Veterinary Nurse and Head Nurse for many years and am delighted to be back working with the animals.

I enjoy all aspects of my role, ensuring the animals are well cared for and comfortable during their period of hospitalisation.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my 2 children and husband, I also have 2 terriers who keep me fit walking on the quantock hills.

Debbie Howe, Student Veterinary Nurse

I became part of the team in 2018 and am already finding the role hugely rewarding. I have a particular interest in the farm work as I grew up on a farm in West Somerset, so have a lot of experience handling and caring for large animals.

At home, I have a border collie called Diesel who I enjoy working with the sheep, and riding the horses when I have time.

Nursing animals back to health is an extremly fulfilling role and I love having the opportunity to give our patients the care they need. I have learnt so much already in my first year and am excited to see what the future brings.

Katie Brown, Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined the White Lodge team in 2019 to pursue a career in Veterinary Nursing. I have always been surrounded by animals, and spend most of my time outside of work with the three family horses, Maisy, Bonnie and Bailey. I ride with both my mum and my son over Exmoor which the whole family love.

Before joining the White Lodge team, I worked as a carer in the local area for 8 years, I really enjoyed feeling as though I was making a difference in the local community.
