Catharine Binding, Practice Manager.

In 1984 I saw a job application in the local paper which required secretarial skills, experience with horses and a willingness to cook. Applications to Box No.... I had no idea it was in a veterinary practice! I first started work at White Lodge in 1984. The practice was attached to George Carters home at Whitegate Road. We had an office upstairs and a small waiting room and operating theatre downstairs, the dispensary was in the cupboard under the stairs! We used a garage for lambing and dehorning, and across the yard there were a couple of stables which on occasion were used for cow caesareans.

My work was decidedly different then, I had to fill every role within the surgery, other than veterinary surgeon – this involved assisting the vets with x-raying, operations, making lunches, sending invoices, TB testing, and more! During my time at White Lodge I have trained in laboratory techniques and radiology. When the practice moved to the current premises, my job started to change considerably, and I am now practice manager!

When I do manage to sneak away, in my spare time I enjoy photography. I feel very lucky to live within a National park where I enjoy birdwatching

Michele Goodall, Williton Branch Manager.

I moved to Somerset from Hampshire in 2004, and became part of the White Lodge family in 2013. It's my job to keep the Williton branch running smoothly. Before my time in the veterinary industry, I was the manager of an elderly care service for 22 years. I enjoy meeting the customers and their pets, aswell as keeping up to date with the progress of all our existing customers. The best part? No two days are the same!

In my spare time I enjoy walking my 2 cheeky little terriers, Maisy and Molly, reading a good book and gardening.

Amy Pollard, Receptionist.

I started coming to White Lodge for work experience when I was 15, after leaving school, I was offered a full time student placement at this Somerset Vet Clinic alongside Cannington College. I should become a Qualified Veterinary Nurse in 2017 which is so exciting.

It's great to have a placement at a mixed practice, as outside of work I am also involved with animals of all shapes and sizes. I have my own horses, Tom and Ari, as well as dogs, cats and sheep in the family! They all keep me very busy!

I also enjoy Young Farmers events and take part when I can, amongst my huge piles of coursework I contend with.

Mary Reynolds, Receptionist (Part Time).

I moved here from Surrey 6 years ago, and have since trained as a veterinary care assistant and worked in the veterinary environment for four years. I then joined White Lodge in January 2014, and work on reception where I enjoy greeting the clients and all their furry companions.

Outside of work I can be found exploring West Somerset with my spoilt terrier, Ollie, or putting my feet up at home with a good book. I have also just welcomed my adorable yorkie x jack Russell, Newt, into my home. She is currently enjoying her days in the office here at White Lodge.

Nicky Thorne, Receptionist (Part Time).

I joined the friendly White Lodge team in 2015 as a part time receptionist. I am always based at our busy practice in Minehead and enjoy meeting the clients and their pets.

I live on a farm in Kilve and spend my spare time helping on the farm, and walking our three dogs Bonnie, Maisie and Oscar across the Quantocks and along the great coastal paths - occassionally stopping for a cream tea along the way.

It's fantastic being able to gain an insight into the veterinary world at a practice that provides small animal, equine and farm services all across the South West.

Jane Headley, Receptionist (Part Time).

I started working at White Lodge vets in 2015, after using them as a vets for my horses, dogs and cats since moving to Somerset in 1989. I really enjoy meeting our clients and their pets, it's amazing the array of animals we have through our doors! At home I am kept busy by my 2 dogs, 2 cats, a tortoise, a horse and some chickens!
